YourChildsHealth.nhs.uk

This is a really useful website run by experienced paediatrician Dr Robertson. It provides links to information relating to a huge range of child health issues covering birth through to adolescence and is set out in a directory format making it simple for you to find what you are looking for. This is Dr Robertsons summary of the site.

This site was set up by Dr Robertson in 2004.

I am a paediatrican and trained in 1989. I have 3 children, 2 of them teenagers and have spent over 15 years in paediatrics. This has been in both general paediatrics and care of premature babies.

For many years I was wary of telling parents to go on the web, however early in 2004 I realised that most topics are well covered on the web and started building the site in mid 2004. The portal was set up to help guide parents around the web. This has the advantage that doctors and parents need only remember one web address without loosing the benefits of the web. They also have the reasurrance that the sites have been looked at by an experienced paediatrician.

The site was launched with 150 diagnosis in December 2004 and by the end of October 2006 it had over 900 diagnosis. At the moment it covers from birth to puberty but over the next 6 months we are aiming to cover issues in pregnancy relevant to the baby. It is as wide as possible covering from dandruff to whooping cough, acne to epilepsy, premature babies to what a CT is etc.

Although it is broad it is not complete so if anything is missing or you know a good site please e-mail me and I will look at it.
