Puppets

Advice on the range of puppets available for hours of fun with your baby, plus the opportunity to purchase a range of hand, finger, shadow and string puppets.

There are an incredible range of puppets available and these make great toys with which to entertain your little one and to help them learn about the world.

For younger infants the bright colours and textures of finger or hand puppets are great in stimulating attention span and eye tracking skills as well as being a fantastic form of interactive learning and entertainment which in itself helps to stimulate development. This is also the case for older infants who will be entertained by the puppets actions as well as their interesting appearance. The use of puppets can be a great way to make learning fun for both you and your little one.

Child sized finger and hand puppets are also widely available although the majority of these tend to be suitable for infants over the age of 3. Puppets designed for little fingers can be a fantastic means of stimulating your child's confidence and imagination as well as providing them with an instant friend and means through which to express their emotions. Many puppet specialists provide both hand and finger puppet sets which are great for creating stories and for general play. Some also offer special sets that encompass adult and child sized puppets so that you and your little one can easily play together.

When choosing from the huge selection of puppets available you must ensure that any you intend to give to your child as a toy are designed specifically for child use and meet the necessary safety requirements. You should be especially careful of puppets with small parts and details such as beading as well as string puppets as these could pose a significant hazard to your child's safety if left unsupervised.

As long as you take the necessary safety precautions, puppets can provide a fantastic channel through which to teach your little one about the world and to give them the confidence to explore it themselves.
