Pregnancy week 6

Signs of pregnancy during week 6 of being pregnant - You may begin to feel sick in the morning.
You

You may or may not be feeling too different, however you will probably be feeling tired and maybe irritable. You may notice your breasts are bigger and tender. The hormones flooding the body to help your baby grow may mean you may begin to feel sick in the morning, though many women have 'morning sickness' during the day. You may also wee more often as your womb swells and put pressure on your bladder. Avoid certain foods like raw or undercooked meat, soft cheeses or raw or runny eggs as these may contain bugs that could harm your baby.

Your baby

This week facial features are now beginning to appear. Folds on either side of the head mark your baby's ears and there are openings for the mouth and nostrils. The retinas of your baby's eyes are also developing. Your baby should measure about the same size as a grain of rice. Your baby's length is measured from the top of your baby's head to the bottom, known as crown-rump length. Your embryo will be visible on an ultrasound scan as a tiny blob, with distinct heart movements. The umbilical cord is now fully formed and so have the beginnings of fingers, toes and facial features. The embryo floats in a fluid-filled sac which contains all that is needed whilst the placenta is formed.

Hi I'm 19 years old and 6 weeks pregnant about 3 weeks ago I noticed a bumb on the left side on my I guess it'd be my uterin wall. Its pretty tender when you touch it especially if you touch it to rough. It was the size of a pea then but now its much bigger and you can notice it if I look at my pelvic area I guess its not far from my cervix. I'm actually extremely nervous that its a cyst or cancer or abnormal :/

Hi this is my first pregnancy am currently 6 weeks, I've read most of the comments here and am glad to know am not the only one with the same symptoms. I tend to get really hungry in the mornings I wasn't use to having breakfast but now am eating every day in the mornings. I also get a lot of morning sickness and my breasts feel extremely tender. I'm really happy about my pregnancy and so is my boyfriend but we are very scared as its our first child. The only thing am dreading is telling my parents, am in my second year at uni which also worries me because I dont know what's going to happen. Either way I can't wait!!! Am so excited xx :)

Hi there, still no symptoms at all and for the last week have had a brown discharge in the mornings and at nights :-( I hope there is nothing wrong as in 2010 I had a miscarriage. I'm going for my first scan on monday and I got my HCG results back monday after a week and they were 4957 so I have done then again I think I should be nearly 6 weeks now. I also think if I had sickness it would make me feel much better!!!
by scorpiobabe2204 3rd Feb 2012, 11:21am
@scorpiobabe2204
I don't really have any symptoms either and its making me worried too! It's so difficult; should be counting my lucky stars not suffering from morning sickness but think it would reassure me if I had it??!

Just wondering if anyone else has had this, I'm 6 weeks pregnant for about a week my boobs were swollen and really tender and I was really exhausted this week I feel ok and the tenderness has wore off. I'm a little concerned as I miscarried last year ... Help please
by Cat2183 31st Jan 2012, 10:42am
@ mooty
I was feeling the same. I was advised to take ginger tea in the mornings and have a couple of ginger biscuits in the afternoon it seems to have helped.

@Atnix: I am so sorry for your losses, but I am so happy for your exciting news. Congratulations!!!

I am (hopefully) six weeks pregnant this week. LOL. I went to the doc, and apparently I am so early that all we can see is the little "yolk sac" as the doc called it, so we're not really able to measure and see how far along I am. She guessed 5 weeks (last week). Which means I felt I was pregnant almost as soon as I was. I am soo not feeling good. But I am extremely excited to meet baby number 2 in about 8 months!!

Hi
I'm finally pregnant again. Tested using the pregnancy strip two days ago and saw a faint line. Wanna double confirm so DH bought a digital pregnancy test yesterday and tested this morning and yep! Confirmed I'm truly preggie! So happy! The last one ended with miscarriage at about 6 weeks +. And the one before that, I experienced stillbirth in my second trimester. It was a very devastating time for us. It took me a long time before I was ready to have another child again. After two years and now finally ready, I'm pregnant again. I'm really happy and excited about this pregnancy! I have a good feeling with this child. :) Btw, congrates to all you expectant mummies... :)

Hi, I found out I was pregnant Easter weekend. I worked it out that I am 6 weeks pregnant today. Iwent to the hospital yesterday to try and get an injection as I have A Rh Negative blood type but they wouldnt give it to me as I am too early. Does anyone know anything about this? Also, they done an ultra sound but they could only see the sac and again said I am too early. Now havin read what should be happening with the baby at this stage on this site, I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing as me as I am really worried that there will be no baby.

Hi,
I went to doctor to have a urine test on 5/Apr, but i was not sure if that is going to be positive. I am feeling more sleepy during day time from mid of this week. Is someone have this kind of experience? Please let me know.

Hi there ladies. I have recently found out I am pregnant at 6 weeks with my first baby. Myself and hubby are both very happy and excited as we had been trying for 5 months. So far I am suffering from nausea pretty much everyday but also extreme light headedness and dizziness.

Hello ladies, I'm brand new to this site. I found out last week that I'm having a baby, and right now I work out I'm 6w2d, or in my seventh week, or however it works. This is my third pregnancy, the first two sadly didn't work out. So I'm VERY anxious... (my Dr did tell me I'd have an early scan this time, but my mw said only after three miscarriages =(. I'm so tired and hormonal, with really achy boobs and suffering from horrible nausea which I've been getting all day and night since last week (the mw said this is a good sign as I didn't get sickness with my last two pregnancies.) So fingers crossed. Anyway, just wanted to say good luck girls! x

Hey just found out I am 6 weeks pregnant!!!! I still can't believe it as we had been trying for well over 2 years and been under the fertility clinic. After a lot of tests and a month of taking clomid it has finally happened and I'm so excited and nervous as this is my 1st baby. Been having cramps like period pains for the last two weeks and am soooo tierd and hungry at the moment. Also have slight sore boobs and lower back pain, been told by doctor this is all very normal though. Wishing everyone the best of luck and hope all your pregnancies go well :-)

by Tracywills84 16th Nov 2010, 4:38pm
@soph396
I am in exactly the same situation as you, except I am 18. I am doing a mechanics course at college and I don't want to do too much heavy lifting so I am worried I won't be able to pass my course. Neither me or my boyfriend have jobs, and although we are both looking, there are very very few jobs going around the places where we live. Both our parents have said they would like to help us but I wouldn't want them to feel like we are using them.
If anyone had any tips for soph396 then I would very much appreciate you letting me know some things as well.

Hey ladies :-D
I'm 23 years old and expecting my 2nd, I am roughly 5/6 weeks pg at the moment... don't have any sickness yet just waking up extremely hungry, I have sore boobs but thats about is as far as symptoms go. from reading all these comments its amde me feel more at ease at this stage, alot of cramping bit of back ache, and me basically being evil lol!!
Hey katrina .. I have pcos too and I had a fairly normal pg with my 1st I was the same kept my weight down and had regular exercise so managed it well so had a healthy pg :-D it seems to have got worse tho after having gained half a stone but found out i was pg again, Just hope its another healthy one !
ive been so worried with the chance of mc as its like 50% more chance, hopefully the beanies will stick around congrats everyone.... bring on the bulging bumps :D xxxxx kelly
by kellymartine 9th Nov 2010, 5:05pm
Hi Katrina20 - Congratulations! I also have PCOS with no obvious symptoms and conceived after 3 rounds of clomid. I had my little girl last December after having a completely normal pregnancy and didn't get told by anyone that I had any higher risk of miscarriage. Its really hard not to worry especially when you've been trying for so long, but everything crossed it will be a perfectly normal pregnancy. I am also now currently in my 6th week of pregnancy having had no treatment this time around, which apparently can happen after one pregnancy, so hopefully it gives you some hope for the future too

Hi everyone, i am 20 years old and currently in my 6th week of pregnancy, me and my partner had been trying for about 3 years and finally with the help of clomid i got pregnant, but my main concern is that i was diagnosed with PCOS about a year ago i don't think i have it severe as i am not over weight or any of the other symptoms but i know that you have a higher chance of having a miscarriage, is there anybody in the same situation as me? any advice or hope would be very much appreciated. thanks X
by katrina20 29th Oct 2010, 5:03pm
Is it ok not to be nauseous? Or is this a bad sign? I'm sat the beginning of 6th week. 5 weeks and 1 day to be exact.
by NewMommySA 7th Oct 2010, 8:51am
Hi everyone,I'm 6 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I've been having a lot of lower back pain and light cramping.but my Dr said its completely normal.so far I don't have any morning sickness.I get hungry all the time so I have a good appetite.
I'm also a nursing student, my Dr suggested me that I shouldn't be driving after 6 months. So I'm planning to take 1 year break. We were planning for this baby,so me and my hubby we are very excited about this whole thing.
@ debbi34.....if u r 6weeks now than you must be pregnant for sure because my test showed positive in 4 weeks.
@skyjoe..its completely normal to have a back pain and cramps but if your back pain is severe you might wanna a see the doctor.

Hi, I'm 17 years old and have just found out that I am 6 weeks pregnant. I am worried what to do financially when my baby arrives, I am still with my partner, however niether of us have a job. I have recently started a new college course in Childcare but am worried that I won't be able to finish it as I won't be able to attend college after 6 months. I have searched all over the internet about what financial suppport I can recieve before and after my baby is born, unfortunately, I don't fit most of the criterias as I am not working. My sister is 21 and has a 19-month-old boy. My parents have had to help her out financially and are worried that they won't be able to support me like they did her. I don't particulary want to rely on my parents to be honest. Can anyone help me?
by soph396 15th Sep 2010, 9:22am
MrsW40 The only way to find out u r pregnant or not is TEST. Do it 1 more time. Because Clearblue is good enough. Clearblue showed mypregnancy when i was just 1 day late.
by Nigar 14th Sep 2010, 9:09am
Hi. Im 40 yrs old & been trying to concieve for about a year. It took my periods 6 months to come back after stopping the pill and once they did they were spot on at 4 weeks. Ive missed a period - now 4 weeks late. Just done a clearblue test and that came back negative but Im not convinced. I'm tired, bit moody and irritable, boobs a bit sore, Im a bit bloated and peeing a bit more than would be my normal. What do you think? I reckon if nothing happens period -wise in next week that I should go for a blood test. Worried why no period if not pregnant though....
by MrsW40 13th Sep 2010, 9:45am
am also 6 weeks pregant and i have been having alot of backackes and a light cramping is this normal
by skyjoe 6th Sep 2010, 10:15am

Thrilled to be 6 weeks pregnant. Have a gorgeous 4 year old and sadly miscarried at 6 weeks last year. A great reference book is The Rough Guide to Pregnancy and Birth by Kaz Cook - I used it so much in my first pregnancy and couldn't wait to use it again this time, have also bought a copy for my close friends when they've become pregnant cos I found it so good and v funny.

by fabulous2010 12th Aug 2010, 10:53am
I really reccomend using the clear blue digital tests. they are alot easier to read as spells it out if ur pregnant or not instead of looking for faint lines and wondering if it truly a positive or not. also tells u when u concieved so get a better idea of how far gone u are instead of just going by last period. can use it four days before u miss ur period!!
by empatrick 12th Aug 2010, 10:51am
hiya and congrates to all . im around about 2 weeks late and taken two tests and both have come back positive . ive had cramps, headaches , and tiredness, and i have felt sick but have not been sick ,has anyone else felt sick but not been sick and carried full term with child ?

by loulou118 12th Aug 2010, 9:47am
To Dadasmall -- That is fantastic news! I'm in the same position so know how excited you must be. I'm 24 with a four year old daughter who has an answer for everything. I had a laparotomy done in January this year because of Ovarian Cysts and an IUD which had punctured my womb. I was convinced that was me infertile and had gotten quite upset about it a few weeks ago. We also gave up on contraceptives for this reason and left it to 'fate'.
I just discovered yesterday I am 4 weeks pregnant and we are over the moon! The doctor has no concerns (which is a relief) so we are definitely looking forward to the future! My daughter wanted a little brother or sister for her birthday (Friday) and she is overjoyed with the news. My partner also got the best Father's Day present ever :)
I wish you all the best in your pregnancy and the future :)

Found out this week that am pregnant, was in utter shock as i was informed that it will be hard for me to conceive due to PID and Ovarian Cysts. Had appt booked with GynaeObs for June to run tests and check my fertility levels. For 2 years we have not used any contraceptives due to the fact that i thought that this is it for me with regards to getting pregnant. We have a 3yr old who we adore and keeps us on toes. This is the best and most perfect suprise that we have had. My 3 yr old was well planned and everything was in place for her. We have been filled with alot of Joy and happiness that words cannot express

Hi my name is KC Im almost 26yrs of age and if I am pregnant this will be a first for me, so I am not familiar with pregnancy pains compared to pms pains. I have a few questions to ask to see if I can get some help on what I should do. To start this off my period was due March 10th, 2010 but I never got it. I have been know to have irregular periods also. But my problems are, I have not had a regular BM for 3 wks now, breast feel heavier, nipples sore, stomach in cramps as if I am about to start my Period along with sharp pains in sides but still nothing, low back pain, and more restroom breaks than usual but not too un-usual if that makes since. Now I took a HPT on March 4th, March 8th, and March 20th all came back negative and still no period. If I am pregnant the date of my last period puts me at almost 6weeks. can someone help me please!!

Hi all, done our first test last tues, just for fun as i thought there is no way im pregnant, got married Friday so thought the reason i was late was due to stress, test came back positive and was in shock and thrilled! my husband was over the moon, i was getting bad period pains but nowhere near as bad as they used to be and my boobs are killing me! this would be our first baby. Took another test the morning after the wedding and it came back positive again but it said 2-3 weeks but everywebsite i have been on says i am 6 weeks and 2 days so a bit confused. Trying to get docs appointment for this week so will see what he says. I am constantly thirsty and always always tired. bit worried about constantly being thirsty, is anyone else the same? anyways congrats to all expectant mothers! :)

Hi everyone, I found out last week I am finally pregnant!!!!! wooooooooooohoooooooooooooooo!!! Been trying for what feels like forever! lol. cant believe it!!!! I was expecting my period all week, had the cramps and everything, then I thought I'd do a test just for the fun of it, expecting it to be negative (seriously I have spent hundreds on the things in the last few months lol.) was so shocked to see it came up postive!
I was bouncing off of the walls, am just so happy! Got it all confirmed at the doctors, was 6 weeks yesterday. I know its early days so maybe I should get my hopes up too much just yet but I just cant help it! :-D I totally agree with chicks comment "I'm 6 weeks and now have gone from 2 years of worrying to get pregnant to now 8 months of worrying if everything will be ok!!" I am soooooo the same! hehe.
counting down now til my first scan......cant wait! x x x x x x

Hi everyone. With my no.2 I had bad cramps and really worried about it but all was fine. Just found out I'm pregnant with number 3. Very excited. I have 2 step kids that live with me too, so really worried that everyone will think I'm mad wanting another baby. Oh well.....
Very minor cramps now, and a bit nauseous now and then. Worst thing is the tiredness and waking up in the nights with the sweats. Thought I had the flu at first!!

Hi. I'm 6 weeks pregnant on my second child and it feels completely different. I was taking tablets for vertigo when i found out i was
Pregnant and have now stopped but i'm very worried i might have harmed my baby. I went to the doc today and he said not to worry about the tablets or the cramping as its normal...but in the next breath he told me that 1 in 10 women miscarry b4 the 12th wk and that this is life! . Its reassuring to read that others have the cramping and all but i'm constantly checking myself to see if i'm bleeding now thanks to what he said. Has anyone else taken tablets before they found out the were pregnant and did everything turn out ok for them?

hello ladies, found out a week ago i am pregnant and am totally made up. I'm 6 weeks and now have gone from 2 years of worrying to get pregnant to now 8 months of worrying if everything will be ok!! We already have a 5 year old daughter and this time is completly different. Am having lots of stretching, quite painfull at times, my scense of smell has gone through the roof and now feeling tearful, just counting down the time for my scan to put my mind at rest... How is everyone else getting on?

Hi i found out that im pregant after my first IUI worked! Very excited! Due begining of June so im in my six week. Week four and five i had really bad cramps in my lower tummy/groin. I was reassured that it was normal and the womb expanding and only to worry if i started bleeding. Thankfully everything has been fine and cramps have now stopped. Boobs very very tender but no sickness yet! Good luck to everyone at this exciting time xx

Hi i found out i'm pregnant last tuesday, 6 weeks tomorrow.i was told i couldn't concieve, and it was unexplained why, great help!! two failed attempts at IVF.
so we gave up. this year i think i have had early misscaririges before i've even had the chance to do a test, i asked my doc if the "unexplained" could actually be that i'm losing the baby so early on its going unnoticed, and she said it was possible. so when my period was late this month i left it a week and did a test and it was positive,( never had a positive one before) so i prepared my self to lose it.
but i'm feeling positive now. i've never had a positive test before, and never been this late before. i am tense, i get the occasional craps in my lower tummy which worry me. my boobs are fulll and sore and i'm not fancying food right now, i just managed a bit of pasta, for breakfast! lol and i have never felt sooo tired, but i'm liking it because i no it means i'm really pregnant, and thats great! I just want to know if these stomach pains are normal, they are like mild period pains and almost in my groin/lower tummy. only short pains not constant. abit like trapped wind, which it could very well be. i think i'm going to get an early scan to be safe, i just want to confirm its there and alive and growing and its little poppy seed heart is beating then i can relax and enjoy being pregnant, something i've been wishing for for 5 years. congratulations to you all, my fingers are crossed for you all. xxxxx
by 1STtimeMAMA 14th Oct 2009, 10:24am
hi i had a scan on yesterday because i had a miscarriage last year and they said that there was only a yolk sack like VRC and this is totally normal for this time. they said the heart beat can come later for some i think aslong as the measurements are ok your ok! did they say they would scan you again soon? coz i am havin another in 2 weeks! also u have a internal scan?? ouchy!! and ladylush23 i was panicing this time about another miscarriage but have been assured that spotting/bleeding is quite normal i think its where they baby is attaching to the side of the uterus its when it accompanied by pain you need to worry and its not pain like period pain its like OMG pain like someone is pulling really tight on a band about ur belly! obviously thats not a medical opinion just mine from havin a misscarriage last year. also i do know brown blood is old blood and mine was bright red with clots. hope that helps and your emergency scan goes ok.

Hi All, I found out that I am 6wks pregnant 3wks ago. My partner and i were in shock. firstly because my partner was told 7yrs ago he couldn't have children. Secondly my son is 21yrs old in Dec. so at the age of 42yrs this is scary, especially when i started to bleed and lose clots last sun. After 4days of worrying i had my scan on thurs, to hear the midwife say she could hear the heart beat and everything was fine was such a relief. I am still bleeding and losing clots but i am trying to keep positive. Has anyone else been in this situation??? Good luck to you all

Hi all. I am on beginning 6 week pregnat(I think!) (sorry for my english- not my first language).I didn't planned, and I never wanted a baby. Don't think that I have maternity instict. It was big shock. I have mixed feelings. My biggest support is my husband. He would love to have kids. But I dont know I will be good mum.;-( My breast hurts very much mostly evenings and also I have brief but frequent period-type pains, and feel dizzy in the mornings. Also my sense of smell is very strong....

I found out last week that I am pregnant, I am now 6 and a bit weeks and all seems fine so far!! This was not planned at all but I am excited all the same. My only concern is that my partner does not seem quite so happy! He worries a lot!! We have been together for 2 years but he had hoped it would be a planned experience and we would be married when I fell pregnant! Has anyone else had a similar experience? Please say someone has had the experience that as time goes on their partner has become more excited!!

I am in my 6th week and experiencing brief but frequent period-type pains. I see a few other people on this wall have the same, so feel right to assume this is normal. Esp as a lady says she had them with her other successful pregnancies :))

Just found out I am pregnant after trying for the last 3 years. Very excited. I have a three year old alredy. I remember the first time around my gyni said dont expect to hear a heart beat until 8 weeks so dont stress. She did say though that if I had ANY bleeding to go in and see her so rather be safe than sorry and get checked out. I am a little bit stressed about the birth though because last time round I was cut and then tore futher which resulted in 13 stiches.....not fun. Good luck all. :o)
by MarilynC 7th Sep 2009, 10:57am
hey jader,
im also young so your not alone! im 19 almost 20..
i think you are very brave. i think its best to ask your doctor what would be best for you two. you want a healthy baby no matter what. they might have to hospitalize you for awhile to keep an i on baby. i was hospitalized for two days because i have an infection in my uterus but they think it should be fine.
i wish you luck! young moms can be good moms too :)

im just got to be 6 weeks with my first! so im more than worried that anything and everything could go wrong. they havnt heard the heart beat yet which worries me but they said it could just be because im super early. just stressing!
pregnancy is so much different when you actually are..
you see women pregnant and wonder what they're going through.

has any one else had worries about the heartbeat? i hear its normal but you never know!
all i can say is we really are grumpy! i've already bitten my fiance's head off already, haha!

Hi guys not sure how far pregnant i am i may be 6 i may be 11 im confused last bleed may not have been period i thought it was a different colour but cos it was when i ex[ecte my period i thought nothing of it. Now i find out it may have been spot bleeding instead i feel further than 6 week my clothes are getting tighter and i cant sleep on my tummy anymore im really confused but very happy. I aslso havent had any sickness i cant remember having any with my last 2 either hope im just lucky. Though i do have strange amounts of spotting which is really freaking me out posted 18/8/09. Guys bad news i think im miscarrying so good luck to you all and i guess i see you all soon crossing all fingers that we can try again.
by jcgmum 24th Aug 2009, 9:06am
My first pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage but I didn't realise how common it was to have a miscarriage with your first pregnancy until I started chatting to people. I had cramps and bleeding with miscarriage and cramps and bleeding when I was pregnant with my daughter...there is no way of knowing or trying to guess what is happening with your pregnancy. My advice would be to be happy but keep an open mind. Try not to get carried away until you have passed the 12 week stage. Its upsetting to miscarry but at lease you know you can get pregnant, some people can't even conceieve so just be glad you are fertile...chances are the miscarriage is just a way of your body preparing you for the real thing!
by rowbottomc 13th Aug 2009, 11:02am
i've got minor cramps and aches too and had that when pregnant with my son so as far as i'm aware its just the womb expanding slightly or the fertilised egg attaching to the womb
by vickieh 16th Jul 2009, 9:29am
Hi, just after some advice really. I'm pregnant 6 weeks, just found out, happy happy happy :) Got a question, haven't seen a doctor yet, but I'm having slight discomfort in the lower stomach area, kinda like period cramps only not that painful and not continuesly! Is that normal?? Very worried, coz I'm abroad and going on the plane in two days back to London... What do you say ladies?
by galushka2000 13th Jul 2009, 9:04am
My girlfriend had 2 miscarraiges and we try a third time but are not sure she had brown discharge n had some light red blood but she thinks she's not because of some abdominal pain and her breast did hurt and were getting bigger but it all stoped this past week did she have another miscarraige that's why they stopped hurting?
by hoinmana 26th Jun 2009, 9:00am

Absolutly petrified!!! thats the best way to describe how i am feeling now!miscarried at approx 5/6 weeks 2 years ago and this is the second time im pregnant...i had period type pain before i was even due on...every time i suddenly moved and when i first woke up it was worst.then around when my period was due i felt like i had a really bad urine infection...did pregnancy test as i felt like i had infection last time and it was positive...later on in the day i found owt i had some brown discharge and a bit of bright blood! tho not 2 much thankfully.urine is clear and so are swabs so no infection.evrey day is different but always feel like i have cysitus and hav period pain on and off.the pain isnt strong enough to be a worry and get scanned early...although my last period was lighter so i have to have a dating scan wich the midwife will book in the next few weeks.i am convinced this pregnancy wont last it seems almost impossible for such good thing to happen 2 me!i have an anxiety disorder anyway and im not allowed to take my medication for it as it can affect the fetus's heart so you can imagine how worried sick and paranoid i am! its all just a waiting game and i hate it!breasts are a bit sore but nothing like last time!feel sick all of a sudden all the time and nearly am sick wen i smell certain thing! not been sick yet tho!Fingers crossed that it will last and be normal.so worried that if i miscarry again it will happen every time! anyway time will tell! Your not on your own every one !..wish you all the best of luck fingers crossed x x

Hi
t16adt.
That is completely normal what you're feeling. I'm exactly the same at the moment, I'll be 5 weeks Sunday. I have a little boy already, who's 2.5. My boobs weren't as sore last time but are really bad this time. And I was quite nauseaus a lot last, but this time it is just waves of nausea but no actual sickness as of yet.
I really wish you the very best that this one clings on for you. x x

Hi All. I am 6 weeks and 6 days pregnant with my first baby. My partner and I are overjoyed! This is a truly strong wee baba though - I took the morning after pill less than 24 hours after sex (condom came off) and yet the baby had other plans. I am SO happy - am loving all the horrible side effects of pregancy. I totally overdid it though yesterday and have ended up in bed today due to sheer exhaustion. I am 35 and my mother had me at 37 so I am feeling okay about being an older first time mother. I had sickness early on and highly recommend making up ginger and honey in boiling water (like an infusion) leave it to chill then strain it and put in a water bottle to carry round. Addmore or less honey to taste. It really helps when I feel queasy and local honey is very good for you in pregancy (and can also help if you suffer hayfever) Good luck everyone!

I am 6 weeks today with our first baby, i have had 2 misscarrages in the past one at 9 weeks and one at 5 weeks, my only concern now i that the same is going to happen again, i have sickness feelings but not actually being sick, boobs were sore but not too bad now, is this normal?
by t16adt 3rd Jun 2009, 9:24am
I am 6 1/2 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I have been trying for a baby for 5 years with 2 failed IVF cycles. It just happened out of the blue and I am over the moon
I am sooooo tired and my boobs are killing me, I have been feeling sick but only gagged a few times - I have also gone off a lot of foods.
I hear all of this is a good sign.
I am getting a few twinges but think more down to constipation than anything,. I just want to sleep all the time but I cant as I have to work lol
Well im anxiously waiting for a scan in about 4 weeks or so. I had a scan at 5 1/2 weeks and could hardly believe that there is a little person growing inside me after all these years
good luck to everyone and may god be with you and your little ones x

Hi, I have just become a member. I am 6 weeks pregnant and I am feeling pretty good although I get very tired, my boobs are tender but not hugely painful and I have been assured that this is completely fine. I had cramps in the early weeks but these have now passed, I have my first midwife appointment next week and can't wait to find out more. I read that some of you are worried about the lack of symptons but mine have disappeared too and I have been told by a midwife that this is normal and that some women go through their entire pregnancies with no symptoms at all.

Don't worry about the other side effects if you have bleeding or pain then get it checked out otherwise enjoy!

So - it's the beginning of week 6. My boobs are so sore i can barely stand to take my bra off at the end of the day - even hugging people is painful. Unfortunately, no sickness yet, just overwhelming hunger, so am piling on pounds. I have endometriosis and I was hoping that the symptoms would be 'cured' through pregnancy, but it appears not. The abdominal cramps have been worse than ever over the weekend and i don't know what kind of pain relief i can use. I have morphine for home use as the pain is so severe, but i'm scared to take something so strong in case it causes miscarriage. Have an appt at EPAC on Wednesday am - fingers crossed.

Hi Lucy! Dont worry, im 6 weeks gone 2, 1st time and am verryyy scared! i havent been feeling sick, or havent had sore/tender boobs!! the only thing i can say is ive been running 2 the loo alot n am a little tired! i dont think a lack of these symptoms means ur more likely 2 MC as everyones different, ive got friends who went through the whole 9 months with no symptoms at all and are now healthy mums with healthy babies! im also feeling fab but i think thats just the adrenilin and shock of finding out!

good luck with everything! prayin 4 a sticky bean!! lol! ~:)

I am 6 weeks and a few days pregnanat but keep worrying as everything that I've read says that I should be feeling sick and have painful boobs, well I feel fantatsic and my boobs are tender but not p[ainful, although they were a few weeks ago! I am however tired and sleeping a lot and going to the loo twice in the night but still pass urine in the day too. people on here have said that a MC is more likely if you don't feel sick and have sore boobs... is anyone else feeling fab?

Hi Hayleynizzy, I know exactly how you feel - I'm 6 wks pregnant with my third baby (i had a miscarriage with my 2nd but went onto have another baby who is 18mths) We have been trying for 5 months to get pregnant as I have a 4 year age gap between my first and second and wanted a small age gap between the 2nd and 3rd but I can't stop worrying something is going to go wrong and am trying not to get too excited. I've been planniing this baby since my daughter was born and want it so much I am so scared its going to go wrong. Its devastating when you lose a baby as you more than most know. I have asked for an early scan which they have agreed to give me (although I had one just before I miscarried which was all ok so theres not much point other than having something to focus on before the 12 wk scan). I've had 2 heart ops so in a way I am lucky as I get looked after really well by really understanding doctors and nurses. I wish you all the best x

Hi, I'm finally pregnant again! I had an ectopic Dec 07 then an early misscarraige in April last year and was beginning to give up hope. At 38 I've left it quite late. So finger's crossed third time lucky, its all going fine so far but I'm just 5.5 weeks. I'll get an early scan next week so I'm counting the days. From what I've read online everyone is different but symptoms like sore boobs, bloating, sleeplessness, lower abdomen pain etc all seem quite common. I've got the sore boobs, sleeplessness and a wee bit of nausea which will probably only get worse!! I wish I'd done this a few years ago - I keep thinking I'm too old for all this! My fiance is very excited though, after what happened before I keep having to say to him its early days yet.
Good luck to everyone, these sites are great and very reassuring for us first timers.

Hello Mummies2B.

I've known for about 3 0r 4 weeks that I'm pregnant. I've felt pregnant. I checked my cervix and was so sure. Then in the super market the other week I could smell the brie in the deli from about five aisles away, it really turned my stomach - and I love brie. I took a HPT yesterday and oop, there we have it. Pregnant. I have a sort of heavy feeling in my pelvis, my bladder feels full almost continuously, and there is a subdued euphoria sensation all round my body. Hubbs & me are pretty overwhelmed, he isn't taking it so well. I'm a little unsteady about this because we are not married yet. I hope this will be an opportunity for us to focus and aim towards what we really want in life. I feel a lot of changes on the way. This will be our first baby. We are both 28 but still feel too young to be parents. eeek!!!

Congratulations to you all and best of luck!

Hey everyone. It all started out with a raging kidney infection. That's what got me to the doctor in the first place. They ran a few test, you know, urine and of coarse blood, and thats how I found out i was pregnant. This is my first, and at first i was really paranoid about it,but, hey its with a man i love and that loves me so now i'm happy about it. I'm not throwing up yet, just really sleepy that's all. But congrats to all the rest of the mothers to be...lol!!

by emmzieboo 15th Jan 2009, 9:59am
Hi All, Congrats on the pregnancy.. This is all to scary for me. im only about 6-7wks gone and had so much trouble already. i was getting bad pains lower pelvic and was taken to hospital as they thought it was ectopic but it was not but i do have a cist on my left ovaries. at the min the cist is actually bigger than my baby sac, which is quite scary but i have been told it should disappear at about 12wks . so fingers crossed. I had a miscarriage in Oct so i fell pregnant straight away. so trying not to get to excited about this one.

Hey there, I'm 6 weeks pregnant today and really anxious about it. I had a miscarriage last year and we haven't waited very long to before trying again - we have been so lucky to conceive so quickly, but I am just terrified that I'll miscarry again. My boobs are really sore and I've been feeling a bit sicka and mega tired.

I'm trying hard not to think about it, just take it easy, but its easier said than done!!! I hope you are all doing well.
by gwatson 7th Jan 2009, 8:50am
Im 5wks 4days today, very very excited and very very nervous! Im completely knackered but I think its the end of the cold Ive been trying to shake off for weeks, my boobs are a little bit sore and theyre really veiny! Really cannot wait to see the midwife and to go for my first scan, thats going to be great! Just really hoping everything is going to go to plan!

I'm 6wks +1 day pregnant today (23.12.08), very nervous (suffered miscarriage last May), and had colposcopy & loop diathermy in August...... However had a scan yesterday, saw babies fluttering heart beat, got another scan next week (they are keeping an eye on me), but so far so good.... I feel EXTREMELY lazy and lethargic (can't be bothered to do anything!) i'm not normally like this, feel exhausted and my eyes are blurry, feel abit miserable and unsociable. Bit uncomfortable in abdoninal area - nothing bad, had no bleeding or spotting AT ALL - very happy but nervous! x
by yummymummy77 5th Jan 2009, 9:15am

Well my situation is the same as PRINCESS2MUMMIE. Im 6 weeks pregnant and also had a miscarriage last May. Ive had a miscarriage before in April of 2002 and then had the birth of my son Aug 2003. So Im hoping this pregnancy goes well as it did when I was pregnant with my son. I believe my miscarriages resulted because Im RH NEGATIVE BLOOD.

But Keep your head up and think the best results of this pregnancy and you will be fine to the end....

Hiya, I am about 6-7 weeks pregnant with my first child and i found out about 3 weeks ago but had nothing but complications since. The main complication is bleeding. I am litterally bleeding every week, not heavy but still concerned. After been examined I was told i was bleeding from the cervix and have also had a colposcopy which makes you bleed too. I have other pregnancy symptoms but a scan I had a week and half ago, the scan showed the baby may not be growing but uncertain. I have another scan tomorrow. Has anyone else had problems like this please or any advice? I was already told I'd miscarried once only for my blood test to show otherwise.

hi princess I'm in a similar situation to you, althoug i miscarried 6 yrs ago now & did have a successful pregnancy after from which my daughters now 5. I am absolutley terrified of miscarrying again, I just can't feel anything except anxious at the minute im too scared to get excited. I'm thankfully having an early scan on the 16th december to make sure all is ok, but am still worried. I have had a bit of sickness, but like you just generally dont feel great, I'm just worrying at any slight tummy ache. It is hard not to worry I'm doing my best just to chill out. It's unlikely for both of us for it to happen again & i hope you can take so comfort knowing i had managed to have a successful pregnancy after my miscarraige thats whats keeping me going. Good luck & keep updated on here x

Hello. I just found out I am about 6 weeks pregnant. I feel so bloated and hungry all the time. It doesn't hurt or anything, but I am constantly aware my stomach is there and I can't suck it in anymore.
by diana00 26th Nov 2008, 9:10am
Is it normal to feel a non painful bloated feeling in the pelvic area even though I do not need the toilet? this is my second child although my last pregnancy was over 6 years ago and I cannot remember if I had this last time.
by Nikkinbump 25th Nov 2008, 8:52am
Hi all, Im at 6 weeks too. The 'symptoms' seem to come and go for me. Went to Dr today as having sharp pains in lower left abdomen - sending me for early scan on Monday to rule out eptopic pregnancy - yipes! Would like to know if anyone else has experienced the same problem?? Not feeling sick at all luckily!
by charlie35 21st Nov 2008, 9:09am
According to this site i'm 6 weeks pregnant, though other sites put me at 5 weeks. Don't feel any different whatsoever, and am not having any of the symptoms i'm supposed to be having. I suppose I should feel very lucky i'm not barfing up all day, but am starting to think i've made the whole thing up!!!!!!

i was pregnant and had an abortion a few months ago, i regret it hugely. i was working abroad and seeing this guy, ended up pregrnant, i wanted the baby so much, but he didnt and what made it worse was that i thought i was infertile, so this felt like my chance, but i didnt want the baby to not have a father, and also i needed to continue with my uni course and...it was just so messed up. i had the abortion abroad and i didnt know what was going on as i could hardly speak that language and just as i was being taken into theatre i really wanted to say STOP! but it was too late. im now stuck and i feel so awful.
by pointe 2nd Oct 2008, 9:18am
hi i was wondering if steph has been n here recently? i hope so i would like to find out if she has made that decision and how she is coping. i had abortion at 17. i didnt get a choice. i regret it to this day i am 35 now. i had a boy when i was 21 he is my miracle. i had 2 early misccarriages at 8 weeks when i was 32. 2 late misscarriages at 19-20 weeks last year and now i am six weeks and hoping and praying that it all works out. when we find our selves in positions that are unexpected we tend to take the easy option or go along with advice of family and friends. but utimatley we have to do whatever it takes and we are usually alone. we feel no-one understands and that we feel desperate enough to make the situation go away. and again we are alone. every body deserve the right to make that desicion for themselves. as long as they are prepared for what comes after. either way support is a neccesaty( cant spell!) although inside u are alone on the outside u have friends and family. listen to all advice but make up your own mind its ur body.

Hi everyone, Im a gay girl in a longterm relationship. I did a self insemination around 4 and half weeks ago. I charted to make sure I got my timing right but not sure if I missed my ovulation by a day. Practically straight away, I started getting a creamy white discharge...which I'm still getting. I didnt get my hopes up and two weeks later I had a period. I usually bleed for 6 days but this time only really bled for about three then had a brown discharge for a couple of days.
A week after I should have concieved, I started with a horrid mettalic taste in my mouth which was so bad that I couldn't stomach certain drinks...i.e tea!!
Im constantly exhausted although this could be down to the fact that i work nights. The strange thing is my boobs are so sore, I only have trouble with painful breasts just before i'm due on so its a bit unusual. Plus its not just my boobs but my nipples. The other day my partner was shocked to notice huge blue veins running through my breasts, practically touching my nipples!
oh and ive done nothing but eat for three weeks and ive just started getting lots of pimples on my face.
Any ideas?,......ive done about 5 home tests (the cheap strip tests off the internet) and they have all been negative.
The thing that makes me question how I feel is that about a week ago I had the regular feeling and symtoms of ovulation.....could I be pregnant???
by lyds78 16th Sep 2008, 8:58am
Well I got pregnant at the tender age of 12 years old, I knew I was pregnant but in denial, it was only when my mothers growing concern led me to the Gyno I was told I was almost 4 months pregnant. Another week andI would have been too far gone to have an abortion. My parents made the decision for me to have one. I dont regret their decision but it has affected me to this day. I also gave birth February 20th to a beautiful baby boy named Dexey, who unfortunately had a rare heart defect called Pulmonary Atresia and after open heart surgery passed away at 2 days old. That is now 2 babies I have lost and think about every day. Fingers crossed, I am 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant now and praying every day that I have a healthy baby that I can cherish for the rest of my life. Shelli, only you can make the right decision that is best for you, your furutre and your baby but certainly DO NOT jump into anything quickly without throughly thinking it through, it may haunt you for the rest of your life, please please please talk to someone, there are options available to you, DO NOT THINK YOUR ALONE!!!!

Just into my sixth week - feeling really tired all the time and sick but in my stomache (if that makes sense?) really drained and a bit low to be honest :( I have a 5 yr old son and dont remember much of the pregnancy so Im struggling to compare right now. I feel so lucky to be pregnant and count my blessings, although I do hope that I pick up along the way so that I can enjoy it the way it should be enjoyed and cherish every moment. I've also gone off of sex in a big way, does anyone else feel the same?

Hi

Just found out I'm 6 weeks pregnant and been to see the Dr who has booked me in for a scan first thing tomorrow, but has told me not to worry even though he's normally be waiting 6 more weeks for my first scan. He said he can feel inflamination in my left side I have had shooting pains in my lower pelvic bone. Would this worry anyone else? Did not know I was pregnant until the weekend but now explains why I am so tired! this will be my first so any advise welcome!

Thanks

I am unsure if I am preganant? I had my last full period on the 7th June which could mean I am at 6 weeks, but I had a 2 day light period on the 4th July.

I had an eptopic in june last year and had my left follopian tube removed as it ruptured, but for the last 5 days all I have wanted to eat is Chilli! and then yesterday I was dizzy, lightheaded, unsteady on my feet and nauseus, I have pins and needles in my hands and they are numb... could I be pregnant?
by ladykb 21st Jul 2008, 8:53am
Stephii,,

Please, please, please go and talk to yoru doctor... dont do abortion please.. dont.. you will regret later.. imagine when you are 25 your baby will be 9 years.. imagine that.. you can keep the baby and go in school and take education...
