Pregnancy week 38

Pregnancy guide: week 38 of being pregnant - If you have older children make sure you've made arrangements for childcare when you do give birth.

You

Due dates are only a guide, so it is worth packing your bag if you are planning a hospital birth. Alternatively gather together the things you'll need for a home birth. If you have older children make sure you've made arrangements for childcare when you do give birth. If you have other children, avoid jealousy later by involving them in the excitement.

You may find it hard to sleep at night, so try and rest during the day with your feet up. You will not put on much more weight now. You may have mixed emotions about birth, eager to see your baby but at the same time apprehensive about labour.

Your baby

A boy's testicles will have dropped into the scrotum and a girl's breasts may be swollen due to the hormones, but will flatten after birth. Your baby is now very close to full-term height and weight. Your baby's fingernails are getting long and may even have scratched her face.
