Pregnancy week 34

Pregnancy guide: week 34 of being pregnant - If you haven't made a birth plan, you should discuss it with your midwife soon.

Discuss pregnancy week 34 on our forums, right now! Or, post a comment below.

You

Your lungs are being squashed by your baby and you may feel a little breathless. If you move around a lot or press gently on your bump, you may wake your baby. You should be given a chance to look around the local maternity ward, during the next week or two, ask your midwife for details. If you haven't made a birth plan, you should discuss it with your midwife soon.

Your baby

Your baby weighs around 5lb. Your baby can blink and her eyes will be open if she is awake. The lanugo hair and vernix covering the baby are beginning to disappear. Your baby spends 60 per cent of the last trimester of pregnancy dreaming.

Im 35 weeks tomorrow, and keep getting stabbing pains in my groin. Is this normal? I think that ive been having braxton hicks too - my tummy goes really hard and its not painful, just uncomfortable. Often when Ive been on my feet for too long. Have been having lots of problems finding comfortable positions to sleep in, which often results in not getting any sleep lol Really really excited though, overnight bags are packed and its just a case of waiting now :) good luck to everyone.....you've got this far, not too long to go now !!! x

I was induced with my, now 7 year old, boy at 32 weeks.
I had severe pre eclampsia, and It was a very difficult labour resulting in 2 big German midwives forcibly squashing my stomuch to help him out! Great fun! But he was absolutely fine, weighed in at 4lb 5oz, and didnt even need to go to SCBU. :-)

Im pregnant again, now at 34 weeks, Im being closely monitored and have had the steroid injections as, again, my obstetrician thinks the baby may put in an early show (either voluntarily or through necessity!)....damn my useless cervix and pre ecamptic tendencies!:-)

If the babies already engaged it doesnt necessarily mean itll come early, its very common especially in first pregnancies.

I'm being induced at 34 weeks due to pre-eclampsia and small baby - I'm terrified. Has anyone else experienced this and how did things turn out.
