Pregnancy week 15

Foetal development at week 15 of being pregnant - Your baby may now be sucking her thumb and grabbing the umbilical cord.

Discuss pregnancy week 15 on our forums, right now! Or, post a comment below.

You

If you haven't told your employer yet that you are pregnant, this week may be a good time to do so. Many women feel extraordinarily well now and begin to bloom (though this doesn't happen to everyone). Make the most of this newfound wellbeing.

Your baby

Your baby is now covered with fine downy hair called lanugo which disappears in later pregnancy. This helps protect her very fine skin. Your baby may now be sucking her thumb and grabbing the umbilical cord. Fingernails are beginning to grow. Part of the baby's skeleton hardens and taste buds form on the tongue. Your baby will hear her first sounds, listening to your heartbeat, digestion, and voice for the rest of your pregnancy.

Hi there everyone. I am 15 weeks and I have passed that tired stage. I think within the last 5 days I have been getting those butterfly sensations. How exciting! My bump isn't very big but I have grown out of my normal clothes. I am suffereing from Rhinitis at the moment which is common among pregnant women. I had no idea, just thought I'd got a lingering cold. Unfortunately I have trouble sleeping from my nose being blocked one minute, to streaming the next. Not to mention the sneezes! I've been told it might last for the duration...hope not! :-(

Hi leahjane7, I would say I have a normal build; I will be 15 weeks pregnant tomorrow and haven't developed a belly! Everybody is different and will develop at different rates - a friend of mine (with very small build) was 18 + before she developed a tiny, tiny bump - if you didn't know her you wouldn't have guessed that she was pregnant. It's difficult to stay positive when you can't see what's going on inside, but trust your body's signs... it woud let you know if things weren't right.

This is my 1st pregnancy. I am in my 15th week, and waiting for my 1st ultrasound next week. I smell everything intensely now & am more hungry than ever before. I'm already pudging out below my belly button, but luckily my pants are still fitting!

hiya all i tried for many many years to get pregnant and suddenly i am im 30 will be 31 this month and im 16 weeks monday, i have has a few scans now as i bleed early on but at 12 weeks i had a beautiful scan really clear and bump moved and i could see the heart beating and him/her moving frantically!!! was wonderful i even cried. i cant wait now for the 20 weeks scan in august (12thish) i am finding out the sex, im not bothered either way but want to be prepared so far all i have is a few neutral items as want to wait till after my 20 weeks to buy anything else and bigger (not the pram or cot tho not until after baby is born) anyway i had really bad sickness and even testerday i threw up my cup of morning tea oh joy but its a sign that the baby is there and is ok, cant wait to feel bump move. im so excited as i thought this day would never happen xxxxxx

I am 15 weeks preganant and I get sight poking pain in my private part. Could this be happening because the uterus is expanding. It does not last for long, its just random pokinging pain. Is anyone experiencing this?

The stabbing pain is called round ligament pain. I had it for weeks and was quite worried but then found out it's normal. It's to do with the ligaments either side of your uterus having to work hard in some way to allow for the growing uterus.

I am 15 weeks and I do feel much better in the mornings now and not as tired. But I can not shake the evening sickness....it ruins my night. I also live in a tropic country and the weather has been about 36...so my legs are swollen. i am also wondering if that is causing my evening sickness...I love being pregnant and think I felt some movement which left me smiling all day. I just want to feel better,,,soon

This is my fourth pregnancy and I'm nearly 15 wks - and I don't feel pregnant at all, other than feeling like I want to crash on the sofa at about 3pm! Haven't felt any movements yet but it's still a bit early for me - didn't feel the others till 17-22wks. Am having a scan on Friday so hopefully everything's OK.

Im almost 15 weeks with my first child. I went for my first scan yesterday. It was the most amazing thing i have ever seen. I couldnt stop crying afterwards i was so happy to see a beating heart after all that time of waiting. My sickness has passed and i can actually stay awake past 9pm. Im feel the need to eat every couple of hours as i am absolutly starving and become to feel nauseas if i dont have anything. I have gained 4lbs.

Hello All

Its really good reading everyones posts as it reassures me that whatever I am feeling is normal. I too have pain in bum and leg, I looked it up and it is to do with the scyatic nerve. I still have occassional sickness on a morning but just so glad to have an appetite back after weeks of awfull sickness. Lots of strange goings on in my tummy but I guess thats to be expected. I can see my tummy growing which is exciting. Can't wait to have a big fat bump.
