Pregnancy week 13

Pregnancy calendar: week 13 of being pregnant - Your hormones should begin to settle and you?ll feel less emotionally unbalanced.

Discuss pregnancy week 13 on our forums, right now! Or, post a comment below.

You

Nutrients from your blood are flowing into the baby via the placenta. Your placenta will also act as a substitute lung, liver and kidneys for your baby. You may feel faint if you skip a meal or have to stand up a lot. At this stage in your pregnancy it is advisable to avoid big meals and instead eat little and often. As your hormones settle you?ll feel less emotionally unbalanced. You may have gained up to about 5lb in weight.

Your baby

Your baby's neck has become longer and the head will now move up, which makes her look more human. The foetal bones are growing rapidly and the limbs are lengthening. Your baby's genital swelling becomes a penis or clitoris, so you may be able to tell your baby's sex in a few weeks time. Fingers and toes are separate and have the beginnings of nails. Ankles and wrists are formed and some hair may be growing.
