Pregnancy week 12

Symptoms of pregnancy at week 12 of being pregnant- You may want to begin to tell people about your exciting news this week.

Discuss pregnancy week 12 on our forums, right now! Or, post a comment below.

You

Your mood swings may calm down and you may start to feel less anxious as the risk of miscarriage shrinks considerably. Nausea and vomiting may begin to ease as your fluctuating hormones begin to settle. You may have an ultrasound scan during this week and see your baby for the first time.

You may want to begin to tell people about your exciting news this week. If you want to take time off work for antenatal appointments, start thinking about your speaking to your boss.

Your uterus is too large to remain in your pelvis and pushes out above your pubic bone. You may begin to gain extra weight and develop a distinct bump. Your feet and hands may often feel hot; that's because in order to lower your blood pressure the veins and arteries in your extremities relax.

Your baby

Your baby is now fully formed but needs the next six months to fully mature. Your baby is roughly the size of a plum and is starting to move his or her fingers. You still cannot feel your baby moving because she is so tiny. Your baby's eyes are completely formed and now move round to the front of the face. The bones are growing, although they are still soft cartilage at this stage. The placenta now takes over as your baby's life-support system. It will filter oxygen and nutrients into the foetus from the mother's bloodstream via the umbilical cord.

I am 12wks and 1 day although may be further ahead as I have not had a scan since 6 weeks and then 9 and my dates changed rapidly in between the two previous scans!
Ive suffered very badly with mroning sickness - everyday for the past 6 weeks. Its been awful! Finally stopped around 4 days ago now but tierdness is still with me and cant face getting out of bed in the mornings at the moment! Im wanting to know if anyone else is showing yet? Its very obvious that im pregnant - its my first baby and im not a big girl although my stomach is not quite hard yet and the bump is quite "flabby". Im wondering if its water rentention and wanted to know if it will turn harder in time as I dont want ppl to think im fat - just pregnant! your help most appreciated! Thanks

just did a pregnancy test yesterda which confirmed my suspicions. phoned the dad - who is overseas at the moment and he still sounds like he is taking it in - won´t see him for another few weeks - but have emailed him photos of the positive test result.

phoned and have a doctors appointment for tuesday. hopefully i can get a scan before i go over to see the baby´s dad! hopefully everything wil be okay with the baby too.

am a little fatter - which i partly put down to eating junk as i wanted to get pregnant before but didn´t - so told myself i couldnt be this time either.

my boobs have taken on a life of their own and my bras are all too small for me - which i put down to weight gain! they are quite big normally but now they are massive.

haven´t had any sickness though i haven´t been able to eat large amounts at meal times - probably from not long after the baby was conceived! i get full after a few mouthfuls or half a plate - but other times i am ravenous and could eat a horse!

Think my hair has gone a bit funny - put that down to having gone swimming a lot lately - now realise what could be the true cause.

happy but worried as haven´t been to the doctor yet.
had an idiot drive into my car a few weeks ago and am worried the seatbelt could have done some damage. also worried about sleeping tablets i took in the first week or two of pregnancy - although a local pharmacist said not to worry.

please feel free to contact me if you are reading this

I am going to be 12 weeks pregnant this Friday and I am sooo excited. It still does not feel real yet. I have not had any morning sickness at all. I guess I got lucky. I am just very tired and sleepy. My breast are the only part of my body that hurts....lol... I have an ultrasound tomorrow and can't wait to see how much my baby has grown. I can't wait to find out if it's a boy or a girl! I already have a small pouch, which is crazy because I can't believe how early I am starting to show. Is this normal or am I just eating too much?..lol... I weigh about 128 pounds with a small pouch.
