New release: The Fairtrade, Organic Wilkinet

Wilkinet, the baby carrier company celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, has launched its latest fair-trade organic baby carrier in beautiful brown denim, so you can carry and cuddle your baby in the most comfortable way possible, knowing the fabric has been woven by weavers from an Indian fairtrade co-operative.

Designed and manufactured in the UK, to reduce carbon emissions, it is made with fairtrade organic cotton and shipped to England rather than by air, packaged in a reusable cotton bag and lasts for generations making it truly environmentally friendly.

It is also the height of fashion! Gideon Wilkins, MD of Wilkinet and one of the babies that inspired the original Wilkinet, says: "Our new fairtrade organic denim is a wonderfully soft and sumptuous new fabric. Fashion industry forecaster WGSN says earthy colours and rich pastels are going to be very 'in' this winter, as are denim accessories. So the fairtrade organic Wilkinet allows mums to be stylish and eco-friendly"

The Wilkinet Carrier was originally designed by mother of eight, Sally Wilkins, to carry tiny 5lb newborns up to 25lb toddlers. It adapts to the changing needs of you and your baby. Beautiful in brown, 100 % cotton fairtrade organic denim, a wonderfully soft and sumptuous fabric, the new Wilkinet retails at £47.95

The Wilkinet holds your baby in a natural sitting position as if they were being held in your arms. With four carrying positions the Wilkinet gives continuity and security and provides the close contact and cuddling your baby needs.

Your baby is held snugly and firmly leaving you with both hands free. Weight is distributed evenly so there's no strain on parent's shoulders, neck or back. The Wilkinet is used and recommended by physiotherapists and osteopaths.

Sally says: "I've wanted to offer an organic fairtrade option for several years but until now many of the fabrics we'd been offered weren't good enough to use for our baby carrier. With this new fabric we now know we can maintain our important quality standards for the carrier, while also supporting a community of dyers and weavers in an Indian fairtrade co-operative."

The cotton is woven and dyed in Southern India and is specially made for Wilkinet by a family who also run a goat farm. Without the money from the weaving the family would find it difficult to survive.

You can buy your fair-trade and organic Wilkinet direct from www.wilkinet.com. It retails at £ 47.95.
