Front facing baby carriers

Advice on choosing a front facing baby carrier plus the opportunity to purchase a range of baby carriers.

Discuss front facing baby carriers on our forums, right now! Or, post a comment below.

A front carrier is worn like a rucksack against your chest, carrying your baby upright either facing outwards (once she can support her head) or towards your chest. Your baby's weight is distributed evenly so the weight is not all on one shoulder. Suitable from birth until approx twelve months.

Ensure you choose one with padded shoulders, or you may suffer from sore shoulders.

Questions to ask before you buy your front facing baby carrier:

Comfortable for you?

Try the baby carrier on before you buy it (difficult over the net or mail order, ensure you can return it if it does not fit).

Comfortable for baby?

Check that the baby carrier is soft and comfortable for your baby.

Can you put it on by yourself?

Unless you always have help, ensure you can put the baby carrier on yourself

Is it washable?

Your baby carrier is bound to get baby sick on it - so ensure you can wash some or all of it.

Do you like the look of the baby carrier?

You will probably wear the baby carrier a lot so choose a design and colour you are happy with.
