Corrie star welcomes a daughter

Actress Alison King announces the birth of her first baby.
British soap actress Alison King has given birth to a healthy baby girl, it has been announced.

The 35-year-old Coronation Street star welcomed her first child with partner Adam Huckett yesterday (February 11th), weighing six pounds and seven ounces.

A spokesperson for the long-running ITV show confirmed: "No name has been decided on yet but mum and baby are doing well.

"Everyone at Coronation Street sends Alison and her partner Adam Huckett their best wishes on the birth of their daughter."

The star was temporarily written out the script in 2008 to allow her to take maternity leave leading up to the birth late last year.

Best known for her role as Carla Gordon on the soap, Alison has also appeared in popular British TV shows Dream Team, Coupling and Cold Feet and features in a series of television adverts for washing powder brand Daz.

The proud parents have been dating for over a year after meeting on the set of Corrie. Adam currently works as part of the show's crew as a sound technician.

Alison was previously engaged to former Dream Team and Daz co-star, actor Jim Alexander.
