The birth took place in the Northern town of Baranquilla, and the girl was delivered by Caesarean section, reports the Associated Press.
Doctors at the hospital were amazed at the size of the baby, named Angelly Arnache, who measured over 22 inches (57 centimetres).
"She is the largest baby we have ever had in the clinic's history," said Mercedes Pacheco, a paediatrician.

"Those sizes are extremely large for a born baby of 40 weeks because the normal sizes are between 3,500 to 4,000 grams."
The infant's 25-year-old mother, Consuelo Arnache, is not diabetic - a frequent cause of extra large birth weight - so doctors are looking at other possibilities for her baby's size.
Consuelo is still in bed recovering from the birth, and said she had been tempted to have the baby early because she didn't think she could continue carrying it.
"But doctors told me I should wait because then the baby would not reach normal size and would be premature."
Angelly is now receiving oxygen because of breathing problems and a glucose solution to make sure she has a good blood sugar level, but is otherwise said to be in good health.
