American actor Charlie Sheen and wife Brooke Mueller have welcomed the birth of twin boys, it has been announced. A representative for the couple confirmed that new mum Brooke gave birth to the baby boys in Los Angeles on Saturday March 14th, six weeks early. Speaking to People magazine, the spokesperson commented: "They're doing great and Brooke's doing great."

Max and Bob Sheen were due on April 26th, however, according to reports, 31-year-old Brooke was taken into hospital last month with early contractions.

Charlie has two daughters from his former marriage to Denise Richards, five-year-old Sam and three-year-old Lola Rose, who are both said to be very excited about becoming older sisters.

The proud parents revealed that they were expecting twin sons in October, two months after announcing the pregnancy. They tied the knot back in May.

Previously commenting on the happy news, Brooke's mother Moira Fiore told People: "Brooke and Charlie are expecting twins, and they are so excited. Obviously, I am floating on air."
