Baby weight

How much does your bump really weigh? Average figures for pregnancy weight gain revealed.

Discuss baby weight on our forums, right now! Or, post a comment below.

Its inevitable and necessary that you put on weight during pregnancy and it can be comforting to know that those extra pounds on the scales are a sign that your baby is growing healthily. But how much of your pregnancy weight gain is actually down to 'baby weight'?

Here are the 'average' figures......
  • Baby = 7.5 - 8.5lbs

  • Placenta = 1.5 - 2lbs

  • Amniotic fluid = 2lbs

  • Blood volume = 4lbs

  • Womb muscle = 2 -2.5lbs

  • Water = 4lbs

  • Breast tissue = 2lbs

  • Energy reserves (for labour) = 7lbs

I keep vomiting after eating. This has been going on for 2-3 days now. I phoned our "out of hour" service and the doctor said there is nothing much I can do to help stop it because it sounded like my baby is "too big" for my body and my body cant expand anymore, so baby is having to push upwards and the only way of relieving the pain is to have the baby. Has anyone else experianced this.? I am 34 weeks.
