Baby mobiles

Advice on what to look for when choosing a mobile for your baby's cot plus the opportunity to purchase a range of baby mobiles for your baby's nursery.

Discuss baby mobiles on our forums, right now! Or, post a comment below.

Before purchasing a mobile you will need to decide if you want it to entertain your baby or to sooth him or her. Mobiles can be fixed to the ceiling, cot or the wall. Some incorporate music, movement and light.

If you are buying the mobile to sooth your baby to sleep then you will probably want a mobile that fits on the cot. If you want on brightly coloured to entertain your baby, then you may need one you can move easily as your baby will not always be in his or her cot.

Some mobiles incorporate music or lullabies that play whilst the mobile rotates. Some mobiles project lights or incorporate a night light so you may need to buy batteries.

You should remove cot mobiles when your baby is able to pull themselves up or stand unaided - attaching the mobile to the ceiling out of reach can be an alternative option. Additionally, you should ensure that the mobile has no long strings or small parts attached that could potentially be a choking hazard.
